The journey here was incredible; through mountains and thunderstorms, and Rambo 4 which Jodie enjoyed.  The first class buses here are funny as they don't appear to have any watershed re: the films they show.  Wee kids get to watch babies being chucked into fires, people being decapitated and sometimes you even get a sexy scene which is nice.

So we arrived in Uruapan and were relieved to find it had stopped raining.  It started raining again about half an hour later.  Wooohoooooo.  So we decided that shoe shopping in the local markets would be on the agenda tomorrow, after getting soaked trying to cross roads that had turned in to rivers...

Didn't do as the locals did and munch down on chicken feet soup (boak)

10th June 2008

...I managed to find a pair of GNARLY trainers for about 3 quid...they have hilarious chains on them and calavera skulls to complete my 'Gothic Nightmare' look according to Jodie.  Had an amazingly tasty lunch at a wee market store; didn't do as the locals did and munch down on chicken feet soup (boak) but did have some tasty omellette and tortillas.  They were such nice people in there that we wanted to go back, but unfortunately we never managed it.  Once we'd seen everything the market had to offer we wandered up to the National Park which was pretty nice.  Really tropical with huge, leafy plants (technical term), cobbled pathways with crystal clear water running in aquaducts down each side, as well as waterfalls and wee lagoons.  We also saw a local curiousity called Rodillo Del Diablo; apparently the devil knelt here and left a suspiciously typical rock formation hahahaha.   Very underwhelming, but the park itself was worth the trek.  There was a fish farm with leopard print fish too (?) and we saved a salamander from being eaten by a bird.  And that was that.  We've decided to head to Paracho tomorrow so that Jodie's bass drought can finally end...hopefully we'll find something good enough (and cheap enough)!
