Ko Lipe
From Jon and Anna's Asian Adventure in Ko Lipe, Thailand on Jan 31 '08
We spent 4 lovely relaxing days on Ko Lipe, an Island in the very South Of Thailand.
We got a ferry here direct from Langawi in Malaysia which was a hassle-free way of crossing the border. We spent 3 nights in Langawi, its quite a nice place but nothing compared to Ko Lipe. Ko Lipe is very low key whereas Langawi had a touch of Magaluf about it!
We spent the time lying on the beach, wandering around and snorkeling. The snorkeling was really good.
We saw lots of colourful coral and exotic looking fish including lots of clown fish (a.k.a Nemo) and other ones...... I don't know the names of them. We did see a fish like the 'sharkfin' one in Nemo (the one that is in the fish tank and he is black and blue and a bit of a mysterious character, his name might not be sharkfin).
From Ko Lipe we got a boat and then a bus to a town called Trang and from there we caught the overnight sleeper train to Petchuburi (Its on the way to Bangkok). The train was meant to take 12 hours, but it ended up being about 16. Can't complain though as it was really comfortable. Much better than the sleeper we got in Thailand last year.
