From Loy: It's been awhile since the blog has been updated... so there's a bit to catch up on. Here's a bit about her last few days in Nepal, in a town on the outskirts of the Anapurnas, Pokhara. It sits on a beautiful lake that, in the dry season, mirrors the gorgeous surroundings. It's a lazy, trekker's village, full of hippies and other expatriots from all over the world who fell in love with the people, the culture, and the beauty of Nepal. Leah got to visit some friends we made there last summer at a little dive place called The Blues Bar.
From Leah: We met up with the owner of Blues Bar, Chedup, who treated us kindly. Funny how, if you just know someone who knows someone here- they take you in like their new best friend. The atmosphere here is so amazing and relaxing, making me want to sit here with a cat-content half smile, lounging, digging the music and the people. Today we rented a canoe boat for the whole day. It was amazing, and I think a good relaxing and chill activity that we needed. We woke up early, rowed across the lake to some waterfalls, and hiked up to a peace pagoda where we had a shifting, pretty good glimpse of the mountains for about an hour. We then sat and had tea at a little tea house nestled up there and just stared at the mountain. It was incredibly beautiful. After our lunch, there were these two swedish guys who needed a ride across the lake. We told them that we weren't really going over there yet, as we wanted to have more time to swim and bask in the sun- but that if they wanted to hang out for awhile, we'd totally take them over to the shore afterwards! They were excited to go for a swim, and jumped onto the bow and stern and rowed us into the middle of the lake. It was totally chill, we just swam, chatted a bit, stared silently at the amazing scenery together. It's so much fun to meet other international tourists who are totally open and willing to jump in and make new friends here. There's a great trekking/global community here, which adds a fun and surprising element to the Nepali experience.
Pokhara: a lazy trekker's village full of expatriots from all over the world who fell in love with the people, the culture, and the beauty of Nepal.
From Loy: There's also an adorable little restaurant right on the lake called "Mike's Restaurant," which has fantastic banana pancakes and apple pie. If you're visitng Pokhara, it is not to be missed.
