On Friday night I organised a night out with my German neighbours, Elke and Alexander and the Gernan girl from work, Marion, and her partner Stan. We had a meal at Pizza Express in the Village and then went to the London Bridge which is a cool local pub on the canal for a pint - the Germans all had Fosters - not me!!!!
Saturday Marion and Stan had mentioned they were going to the Southport Jazz Festival so Elke and I decided to head down and join them too. Not the most riveting music festival I have ever been too - I would say the average age would have been 65 - check out the background some of the photos and you will see what I mean. Us girls went for a walk on the jetty which was so long they have a tram to get people to the end. We still didn't even reach the water - the tide was way out !!! We ended up finding some lazy chairs to sit in and soak up the sun so we made the most of the day anyway. Poor Elke got so sunburned!! Saturday night I went for walk around the local canals and had a relatively early night.

Sunday I lazed about until Marion and Stan picked me up and we made our way to the Liverpool Sound. For all you Beatles fans and Liverpool soccer fans this would have been your dream come true. It was a concert attended by 36,000 people at Anfield stadium (Liverpool's home stadium). The main act was none other than Sir Paul McCartney in his home town of Liverpool. He was supported by the Zutons and the Kaiser Chiefs who were both great bands to see aswell. Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters even made a special guest appearance to play the drums and guitar during a couple of Paul's songs. Went for 5 hours.

Marion and Stan had seated tickets but I had a standing ticket - yes I stood where many soccer legends have stood in the past. I even managed to steal a piece of legendary turf for Glyn at work!!!!
I ended up hanging around with a girl from work Katherine, her boyfriend and boyfriend's parents who are huge Beatles fans. We ended up fairly close to the stage - had a great view. It was really nice hearing the crowd sing along to many Beatles classics and even some not so well known ones. They really are passionate about their Beatles.

During Live and Let Die, I serioiusly thought I had died for a few seconds. From nowhere, huge flames erupted all across the front of the stage which were the height of the stage. Fireworks were let off at the same time. From where we were standing, all we could hear was the boom and all we could feel was the heat!!! It really took my breath away.
The concert ended with a short fireworks display to celebrate Liverpool the Capital of Culture.
