So in the morning the plan was to spend our final night in Ottawa but as nature calls for a huge snow storm to pass through Toronto late tonight we decided to cut a day off and head for home but still dropping past Ottawa to at least check out the parliament.

It was about a 2.5 hour drive before we made it into Ottawa and the only thing we checked out was the Parliament House and took a tour of the place, first going up to the clock tower and taking pictures of the skyline and city then it was back down to join the tour around the parliament house which was quite interesting. Following this we got back into our car to finish the last leg of our trip back to Toronto.

We made it in by about 10pm and surely enough the next day there was like 30cm of snow on the ground and one of the biggest snow falls that Ontario has seen in many years. But to that I got to shovel the driveway and let me tell you it ain’t easy but it definitely gives you a fairly decent workout. Also there’s a technique to doing it too, not as easy as just digging your shovel in and over the shoulder but a systematic approach so it’s faster and so you do less work. But with all this snow while we were shoveling our driveway, the snow plows were busy on the main roads plowing and the side streets were untouched so cars driving down the side streets kept on getting bogged and weren’t moving anywhere and so while we were out, Dave and I being good Samaritans, we helped a few cars shovel tracks and push the car so they can get back on the main street. But when we were cozy in the house it was a different story as I peaked outside the window just evilly entertaining myself as car get bogged shifting gears back and forth not getting anywhere. It was entertainment I never seen before. It was great but evil hahaha.

Also as it got warmer the next couple of days and while the snow was still around from the big dump. I took the opportunity to make my snowman, the first one that I would make in Canada. Making a snowman with fluffy snow is much harder to do then I expected as the snow was dry and didn’t really hold together well enough. So I had get some water and make some slushy snow which held it all together a lot easier. After an hour, the snowman was complete, as fat as Santa Claus with a very big head. I put on two large grapes as his eyes and 3 more as the buttons on his body then a orange carrot as the nose, a tree twig on either side for his hands and another for his hair. But then I dressed him up with a scarf a beanie and some gloves which made him a whole let better looking.

And there it was my Canadian snowman complete and checked off my list of things to do.
