Die "Great Ocean Road", eine 273 km lange Strasse, die die meiste Zeit direkt an der Kueste entlangfuehrt. Sie wurde uebrigens von Heimkehrern des zweiten Weltkrieges gebaut.

Johno hat ein Funkgeraet in seinem Wagen sowie ein Tragbares, welches wir in Daisy, dem Wagen von Dayle und Adrian gepackt hatten. Wir haben Geschlechtertrennung gemacht. Johno ist mit Adrian in Daisy gefahren und Dayle mit mir in Johnos Wagen. So konnten wir uns ueber allen moeglichen Scheiss unterhalten, aber auch ueber Nuetzliches wie z. B. die Klopausen.

Erster Stop war 'Bells Beach'. Das soll der Strand aus dem Film "Gefaehrliche Brandung" mit Keanu Reeves und Patrick Swayze sein, wo Bodhi die Wellen des 50 Jahre Sturms geritten ist. Um sicher zu sein, dass es hier gedreht wurde, muss ich den Film wohl nochmal sehen.

Nach einem kurzen Stop am 'Split Point Lighthouse', den 'Sheoak Falls' und etlichen Lookouts war der Tag auch schon fast vorbei und wir naechtigten am 'Johanna Beach' im 'Great Otway National Park'.

Das Highlight der 'Great Ocean Road' sind die '12 Apostel', eine Reihe von Steinsaeulen, die durch Erosion von der bestehenden Kueste entstanden sind. Die hoechste ist 45 m hoch. Jaehrlich werden 2 cm von den Klippen abgetragen. Einige sind bereits zusammengekracht, sie letzte Mitte 2005, nun sind es nur noch 8.

Nach den Aposteln haben wir noch mehr aehnliche Felsformationen gesehen, 'Loch Ard Gorge' und die 'Bay of Islands'.

Am spaeten Nachmittag sind die beiden wieder zurueck nach Melbourne und wir weiter nach Norden nach Penshurst.

Johno has a 2-way radio in his car and a portable one. So we put one in Daisy (the van from Dayle and Adrian). We made a girls and a boys car. Johno drove with Adrian in Daisy and Dayle with me in Johno's car. We talked about every useless and useful stuff.

Our first stop was 'Bells Beach'. This should be the beach from the film 'Point Break' with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze where Bodhi was surfing in the 50 year storm. To be sure that this is really the beach where they made the film I have to watch it again.

After we had a short look at 'Split Point Lighthouse', 'Sheoak Falls' and several lookouts the day was almost over. We stayed at a campspot at 'Johanna Beach' in the 'Great Otway National Park'.

The highligth of the 'Great Ocean Road' are the '12 Apostles'.These are a collection of natural limestone stacks standing just off shore.

The stacks have been formed by erosion, and are varying heights and thicknesses. The tallest one is 45m high. A number have fallen over entirely as waves continually erode their bases. A 50-metre tall Apostle collapsed mid of 2005, leaving eight.

After the Apostles we saw some similar rocks. The 'Loch Ard Gorge' and the 'Bay of Islands'.

Late afternoon Dayle and Adrian went back to Melbourne and we drove further north to Penshurst.
