2 Weeks on the Beach in Nepal!!

This was our 2 week volunteer project, which was based at the Trisuli Centre, the white water rafting centre for Himalayan Encounters the company who are our hosts in Nepal. So forget orphanages, which is what we thought we would be doing, this was working with a group of 40 local kids between the ages of 12 and 16 teaching them English and computer skills aswell as doing some conservation social projects with them.  This was all happening in the middle of the Nepalese general election, which also meant the schools were on holiday because all the teachers were out campaigning.  That worked out well, otherwise we may have been teaching classes of 40 kids in the local school.

The kids were absolutely fantastic so enthusiastic and great fun to be around, they soaked up everything like sponges.  we were teaching 4 days a week, 4 classes each a day, 09:00- 11:00 then 16:00-18:00 which left us plenty of time in the middle of the day for swimming in the river.  Only problem was Trisuli is out in the middle of nowhere so there was nothing else to do in the evenings.  We were stranded and living by the sun, awake by 06:00 and in bed before 20:30.  The accomodation was in a tent with concrete beds!! so not the height of luxury but all in all great fun.

We got one white water rafting trip in on the weekend which was brilliant.
