On Saturday we went fishing for cod and sei, which are known as "coalfish" in English.  Lines are dropped to the bottom of the sea, then gently tugged at until a fish is caught and reeled in.  Sei are much smaller than cod, and oftentimes if a sei is hooked, the cod will go after it and get hooked as well.  In addition to several sei, the boys took in 4 cod, the smallest weighing about 10 lbs. and the biggest about 22 lbs.   These were put in salt water for 2 days, then rinsed off and used for a future feast.  The livers are also saved and eaten as a delicacy.

That evening, about 60 relatives showed up for a mini reunion (the real reunions are 3-4 times as big), which was held in the barn.  Ole gave a beautiful welcome toast to us, after which we dug into all the wonderful traditional foods that each family had contributed.  Two of the relatives played accordian and guitar and there was much singing and dancing until things wrapped up around 3:00 am.

Foods of the Day:  Baccalau (dried cod, which is reconstituted and then mixed with a sauce and baked) and Roemmegroet (sour cream porridge...Lisa's favorite).
