I still can't quite believe that having booked a boat on the internet back in January we turned up at a marina in the lake side resort of Gizyko and found a polish bloke ready to rentus exactly the same boat for a week!

We arrived in Gizycko a few days early and spent some time practicng our Tyskie drinking and laying down some stores for the voyage.  The week sailing was absolutely fantastic, there is a huge amount of water to sail on with very wide channels, very different to the Norfolk Broads.  Our boat, the good ship Mifaeek was supposed to sleep 6 but was spot on for the two of us.  We were able to mooor up in the evenings at the edge of the lake and wade ashore for a camp fire or just swim off the back of the boat.   Absolutely idilic.

The weather was mainly hot with good strong winds (we had to reef most days)  but we had an enormouse storm in the middle of the week.  It started with a big thunder storm one evening and then the next day it was so windy and rainy that we needed to head for shelter in a marina in a small village.  We had a hairy trip across the lake to get there and felt very relieved to be safely moored up somewhere secure!

Great place and fantastic sailing, strongly recommend it!
