Greetings from Montenegro. We left the country of Croatia and traveled south, crossed the border into Montenegro. The worlds newest country. While Croatia is more sophisticated and developed, Montenegro is just beginning to learn to market to tourists. While young in tourism, its much less expensive yet beautiful and offers the same adventures, fabulous beaches, dramatic cliffs, natural beauty and hip towns . The Serbs and Albanians flock here. Our first stop is the bay of Kotar and the city of Herceg Novi. The bay of Kotar is recognized as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. The streets were built in 1832 and the town has many cultures, traditions and languages. Its a very steep city , climbing steps from the beach, marina, old town and our accommodations. The slopes of the Orjen mountains dominate above the city. The Herceg Novi Riviera as it is called hosts 7 towns and 75 beaches. Every day we wold take a ferry boat to a different fabulous island beach. While all these Adriatic cities boast fabulous old towns, clock towers, fortress towers, monasteries , plazas and castles, a lot of these landmarks here have been turned into fabulous venues such as restaurants, outside movie theaters over looking the ocean, hip bars and clubs. The blood tower at the top of old town and over looking the entire area, was turned into a outside movie theater showing films on a giant screen with the ocean as the background. This blood tower / plaza was once used as the defense against the invasion of the Turks and a prison as well. This is a very hip town, full of energy, youth and an abundance of exciting venues by day as well as by night. And the prices are right. LOL. Here are a few pictures. Enjoy.
