San Diego is a really nice town...nice weather, great beaches, and friendly people.  While there, we had a great time staying with our second cousin Gene and his family.  His 2 1/2 year old son turned out to be quite the baseball fan, or at least he talks a big game (stay tuned for adorable videos).

On our first afternoon we stopped by the Padres box office to ask about tickets for upcoming games, and some guy handed us free tickets to the game that was currently going on.  So what if it was already the 7th inning stretch by the time we got in the park?  A few free innings of afternoon baseball is a beautiful thing.

We did go to an entire game with Gene the next day.  The Red Sox were in town and Petco was filled to the rafters.  Maggie (and half the crowd) was excited to see the BoSox pull off a 3-2 win.  (Anna was a little less excited.)

Petco Park is pretty great.  Apparently PETA doesn't think so, but we really liked the cool architecture and abundance of standing room (if you go, avoid the bleachers at all costs).  They seemed to have some trouble with food, however, and temporarily ran out of hot dogs in the 4th inning.  They should work on that.
