San Jose
From Daisy's RTW in San Jose, Costa Rica on Jun 29 '07
After a week of attempting to learn some spanish, I have now left my Costa Rican family and moved to a hostel in San Jose downtown. I can safely say that I can understand now some spanish and can speak un poccitio! Went on a city tour yesterday. Um interesting city. Kind of a few historic buildings in the middle of absolute chaos!! Very glad i was on a tour. Its ok, just not really a city that i would enjoy, too many people etc. We went to the Theatre National, which was very ornate and european.
Today was brilliant! Got picked up at 6am (gulp) by the same company for my 4 in 1 tour. Very comfortable bus, about 18 of us, mostly american and european. Headed up to a coffee plantation for a breakfast of scrambled eggs and rice with beans (rice and beans comes with every meal I have discovered!) and lots of yummy coffee. Then we did a tour of the planatation. Next we headed to Volcan Poas, an active volcano. We drove up to the summit and the cloud kind of cleared to we could see the crator! Not quite as spectacular as NZ but cool! Next was the La Paz Waterfall park. A big park with lots waterfalls, hummingbirds and Toucans!! We had a buffet lunch there, pizza with rice and beans! Then it was off to the Sara-something river(i can remeber the name) for a boat trip were we saw an Iguana, monkeys, a sloth and lots of pretty birds.
Tomorrow I meet up with the guys from my project! Very excited, last bit of my trip now!
