Ok so, we did end up staying in a hotel this night and that is completely due to the weather. We woke up this particular morning and it was still pretty cold, however it didn't start raining until we were ready to take down camp.

I'm not sure our luck but it turns out that Alex and I have had to both put up camp and take down camp in the rain now. This particular rain was not good either, it was the the cold sort of downpour rain.

I'm not sure our luck but it turns out that Alex and I have had to both put up camp and take down camp in the rain now.

Needless to say I think we were all pretty cranky this morning. By the time we got everything packed up I was chilled to the bone and the only thing I wanted was more coffee.

My mom and Mike both had an idea of where we'd be camping next, they had wanted to go camping at a place near Michigamme Lake in the Upper Peninsula. I know that Mike had also wanted to stop and take more pictures along the way (and there were quite a lot of great sights to see on our drive up that way too), but the rain did not let up all day.

We finally arrived at Michigamme and it was such a gorgeous campground right on the lake, but it was still raining and I don't think any of us were really anxious to put up our campsite in the rain. Plus the campground owners mentioned that the weather was going to reach a chilly 32-degrees again.

We took a look at a cabin they had on site but it had one bed, a bunk bed, and that's pretty much it. None of us were really excited about sharing close quarters like that either. Plus I was just cold and there was no heat in the cabin.

We then decided to go to a hotel for an evening. This actually appealed to me because I really hoped that our hotel had wireless internet. Yes, Alex and I both brought our computers, we can't leave anywhere without them, even on a camping trip. We actually also enjoy watching movies on my computer in our tent (don't knock it until you try it is all I have to say).

We drove to Ishpeming where we almost stayed at a motel, lucky for us the people who run the motel were gone for another hour. I say lucky for us because Alex and I are usually kind of picky about where we like to stay when it comes to hotels, but we were both willing to accept whichever place my mom and Mike chose because they were leading the caravan.

We headed back to where a Best Western was and ended up staying at a place behind the Best Western (and also owned by Best Western), called Jasper Ridge Inn. It was a nice place and we each got separate rooms, and we also got our glorious wireless internet!

We did a little bit of shopping that night to pick up a few odds and ends and then we had a meal at the Jasper Ridge Brewery. Alex and I had wanted to go for coffee at a shop nearby the hotel but they were already closed when we got done with dinner.

The rest of the night we spent relaxing in nice, comfy, king sized bed, and hardly thinking about the fact that we were actually on a camping trip.

This was really our only bad day weather-wise, the rest of the trip turned out to be absolutely gorgeous once mother nature got this out of her system.
