La Paz and the world's most dangerous road
From South American jungle, mountains and deserts in La Paz, Bolivia on Apr 30 '07
I wasn't planning to stay in La Paz for long, but I couldn't miss the extreme action of riding a mountain bike down the world's most dangerous road - a spectacular ride descending about 3000 meters from the Andean mountains into the Amazonian jungle in just 80 km. The bike is accelerating on a steep slope, gravel on a road makes it very tricky to keep balance and braking makes the bike slide towards the edge at every turn, where the road drops vertically for hundreds of meters. Quite an adrenalin boost. The less extreme activity in La Paz include a visit to the Museum of Musical Instruments, where it is possible to try your abilities in playing various instruments.
