Monaco and Monte Carlo

DAY 6 – MONDAY, MONACO AND MONTE CARLO
Woke up, freshly engaged and we were all going to visit Monaco and of course the Casino in Monte Carlo. Ray dressed in his suit jacket for entrance into the casino. Jeans and runners are not allowed into the casino. We all hopped on the transfer boat and then onto the tour bus. Our guide that day was a very unattractive woman with no sense of humour and every time I looked at her and her shocking pink lipstick I thought of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Trying not to stare at her at every opportunity we went into Monaco. You could feel the money in the air and no matter how much I dressed up I think I would always feel like a knacker in the place.
Audrey and Ray (nursing his hangover) went to get lunch and the rest of us saw the rock of Monaco. An ancient walled city overlooking the sea. We went into the Old Quarter and visited the Palace Square. We also saw the 19th Century Monaco Cathedral which was the final resting place for Princess Grace Kelly.
It’s a beautiful place and plenty of history and far too much to put down on paper. The city closes at night so everyone must leave and stuff like that makes the place really unusual.
Mom was in a fluster for ages trying to get a postcard sent. We just caught the bus in time as with all the fuss she didn’t know who to send the postcard to and ended up posting it to …….yep, to herself! lol
We then hit Monte Carlo's casino. On our way there we travelled along a portion of the Grand Prix Motor Race circuit. Couldn’t get in the door of Hotel de Paris cause you had to have a reservation. Don’t think I could ever afford to stay in that place In the doors of the Casino and was nothing like I thought it would be. It was much quieter than I had expected and also thought it would be a bit bigger. It was very obvious though where we were was not where the action was happening and this was the tourist section. Everyone split and went their own different ways. I had €20.00 to spend and decided which machine was just gona gobble my cash. I put in my first coin and then the machine went haywire – it started puking out coins and roared at mom to come over. Yay! A WIN! In Monte F**kin Carlo Casino! Changed my winning and got €160.00 in notes. Ok so not the jackpot but it’s the most I have ever won on a slot machine. Bought myself and Audrey a drink and sat back and watched gamblers whilst feeling like the luckiest girl in the place. Then Ray runs over after winning €180.00 at the blackjack table. All was happy!
You will have to forgive my memory now as I cant really remember what we did on the Monday night of our cruise.
