Calling Matt Jackson
From Our long long honeymoon in Lima, Peru on Oct 04 '07

So here we were, our first South American experience. We had been organised and booked our hostel in Lima in advance as we were leaving the next morning early. The hostel had confirmed it would be picking us up, easy. So we arrive at the bedlam that awaits at the arrivals area, looking for our names on the many boards waved by the screaming hordes. After a frustrating few minutes we realise that there is no one to meet us. We start chatting to a taxi driver about the costs of getting to our hostel, a random guy butts in claiming he´s from our hostel. However, he is clutching a sign saying "Matt Jackson". We are dubious to say the least, especially after reading in the guidebook about dodgy taxis. He makes a few phone calls, insists that he is there to pick us up and takes us out to his cab. O.K we know the hostel is only 10 mins away in a dodgy area close to the airport, so if the journey last longer we then we know we´re in trouble! 20 nail biting minutes later we turn down a dark side street and he jumps out to open a gate, still insisting that we are at the hostel.

Luckily, he was telling the truth! The driver showed us the sign that he should have picked up with "Callum Clifford" printed on it and we breathed a sigh of relief... Our hostel turned out to be basic but nice. We got up early breakfasted and headed back to the airport for our flight to Cusco.
20 nail biting minutes later
The Cusco flight was the best so far, exciting views over snow capped mountains, window seats, no screaming infants and nice food to boot.
