We woke up at 3:30 AM for a 6:20 flight to Paris. By the time we arrived we were all pretty tired. A cab ride from the airport with a few wrong turns brought us to our rented flat at the Palais Royal. It is a quaint little apartment on the grounds. After getting our brief by the charming cleaning lady (in fFrench) we settled in and and became familiar with our "neighborhood". The grounds are wonderful, steeped in history with small boutiques all around and a cafe directly adjacent with pedestrian traffic in the gardens. Our backyard is lined with trees with a huge fountain in the middle. Across the street we have our local pub called The Cave. It is a couple of steps down into the lower portion of a building a few hundred years old. The ceilings are arched and made of brick giving it the look and feel of a cave or medieval cellar.

We went grocery shopping at the Monoprix shopping mart, an all in one shopping store that carries clothes, cosmetics as well as grocery and tasty fresh bakery items. We stocked up on groceries and headed home for a good nights rest.
