Such a nice Mexican town

We had a good flight. No troubles or lines. That surprised us being that it is a holiday weekend. While we were going through security we saw what looked like a soldier saying goodbye to his family. It really struck me. Here we were on Memorial Day weekend going to lay on a beautiful Caribbean beach to relax and have some fun. Here he was going off to war. I felt some obvious guilt. It just didn’t seem right. I hope he is safe. So, we love Playa Del Carmen. It’s such a quant Mexican town. You can relax, eat at good restaurants and have fun at night. But it’s not a touristy type town. Obviously its all tourists but it just doesn’t have a touristy feel. Everybody’s really nice. Most of the tourist seem to be either from Europe or Mexico. We landed in Cancun and took a 40 minute bus ride to Playa. We’re staying at the same hotel we did last time. Hotel Lab Nah. It’s a mom & pop 12 room hotel about 500 feet from the beach. It’s just a small room with no TV but we love it. Again, we just don’t want that tourist feel when we come to Playa. We got in late afternoon so we headed out to dinner. We ate La Parilla. Again… been there but there was a reason we went back. Lot’s of cooking at your table. Very cool Irish coffee! We then went for some drinks. Started at the bar at Hotel Deseo. The bar is actually up on top of the roof around the pool. Very cool! There were even people in the jacuzzi. Just hanging out listening to good house music. We went to OM next. It’s an outside bar with real nice ambiance. Then our favorite place in Playa… Blue Parrot. It’s a club that has a dance floor on the beach. In fact, you’re dancing on sand. Again, great ambiance. Heading back to the hotel about 2:00 ready to hit the beach tomorrow! Wonder if we’ll make breakfast?
