The journey to Mauritius was an interesting one.  After arriving late in Mumbai from Bangkok, we met my dad and aunt and dashed to the domestic terminal to catch a flight to Delhi, only to find that we had missed check-in for our flight and would have to book and pay for new tickets - great! My dad and aunt were checked in already and boarded the flight, and ours would follow three hours later.

We finally made it, and after a night of full-on mosquito assault, we made our way back to the airport for our flight to Mauritius.

Mauritius is a beautiful place.  The fusion of African and Indian cultures makes it a very interesting place with great food and even better music - it was far more developed than I had imagined it would be.  We arrived at our resort quite late at night and after they types of places we've been staying, this was heaven, and almost alien to us.  In fact I amost swung at the porter when he picked up my bag to take it inside - old habits die hard I guess...

The family reunion was pretty cool - it was really nice to see my family again after all these months.  The following few days were spent relaxing by the rather impressive pool, and catching up with everyone.  In addition, With Yaz's family being from Mauritius there were plently of islanders for us to meet up with that she hadn't seen for some 12 years.  We even had the opportunity to attend a Mauritian wedding which was interesting to say the least - the biryani was incredible!

So the day of my sister's wedding came and it was fantastic! The ceremony and reception were held on the beach with a view of the bright blue Mauritan seas.  The bride looked amazing, and the groom looked nervous, as all weddings should be  : )  The day and evening were spectacular, including the fresh seafood dinner, and great beer.  What more could you ask for...
