Day 2 at school
From Hannover - Here we come in Garbsen, Germany on May 31 '07
Hello again
This is a general update. I know it is early in the day but we have a house party at my hosts home and I do not know when I can get back to the computer.
General Update From Germany!
I met with the students again today and we had much more time to talk. Kelsey states that her German has improved triplefold. Joshua learned to drive a tractor. Greg has informed us that he was born in the wrong country. He is amazed at all the food here and how good it all tastes! They are still working on their communication skills with the Germans. They might get it down by the 11th when we go on the travel around.
Today the German students had a three hour test. During the test, we visited Mrs. Weineck's English class and were interviewed by her younger students. It seemed to work. Random German students in the hallways would try and speak English to us. Our students were very patient with them. It was cute. Two of our students, Joshua and Rebecca, visited the Spanish class and said that it was very difficult to work with Spanish and German at the same time. Michael and Kelsey will be visiting the music hall next week to play instruments. When Michael heard he made up a new English word - cutels.
As for plans for the next couple of days - I heard about horseback riding, a BBQ at a lake, going to a club, going to a birthday party, seeing the Zoo, shopping in Hannover and a concert. I think the kids will be busy.
I hope to see more pictures posted by the students soon and hopefully I will have some from tonight.
Have a good day.
Frau
PS. You should be aware that now the homesickness is settling in. They are getting over their jet lag and realizing how far away from home they really are. In a couple of days, they will realize how far from home they really are and enjoy it.
