From Fabulous France! in Versailles, France on Mar 31 '07

After Giverny, we drove an hour or so to the Palace at Versailles. I was not prepared for the massiveness that waited before me. We had been to some impressive castles, but this was by far the largest we had been to. We took an audio tour through the main rooms of the palace, including Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette’s bedrooms. Every room was adorned with murals and portraits of the royal families, and elegant and unique in its own way. That is merely the inside. The outside contains gardens that continue as far as the eye can see, with fountains and patterned bushes galore. Again, I’m sure we could have spent all day there, but weekend trips do not allow for much leisure time.

After such a wonderful weekend, I still feel like I only scraped the surface. France, especially Paris, is one of the two places that I can honestly say I must revisit sometime during my life.

I'm soooo jealous. Sherriann & I didn't get a chance to see Versailles. Thank you (x20) for the great pictures. I know about the dimensions of paintings, but just couldn't fathom the massive scale of something like "The Coronation". It actually helps to see the tourists mingling about, as it intensifies the overall size of this masterwork. P.S. We looked at your pictures from Giverny today. The guys in my class think you're cute. Don't have to much fun in Rome. You know the old saying!!!.
