Royal Caribbean's Private Beach
From Western Caribbean Cruise - Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas in Labadee, Haiti on Apr 08 '07
Labadee is a private peninsula leased by Royal Caribbean for their passengers. It is just off the North West (Nord-Ouest) coast of Haiti, very near the real island of Tortuga. (Yes it really exists - not just in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean".
We arrived in the morning after a day at sea. Lababee is a fun way to spend a day at the beach - especially for families. But people of all ages enjoyed the giant water slide, the aqua park, waverunners/jetskis, parasailing, snorkeling, swimming, or just laying out.
It's a big private beach party with 3000 people from your ship.
We particularly enjoyed the aqua park. at first we thought an hour didn't seem like much, but trust me, everyone was exhausted after an hour. There are giant floating 'icebergs' that you climb up and slide down, floating mats that people seemed to turn into floating wrestling mats, rolling logs, and quite a few large trampolines connected together.
It's basically a big private beach party with 3000 people from your ship that you've met just over 24 hours ago. Lunch was provided, and we enjoyed swimming and searching for shells - especially where some reefs came pretty close to shore.
If you find yourself in Labadee, make sure you look for "dragon's breath'. it's a very cool rock formation where the surf forces air in and out of a crack in such a way that you'd swear a dragon was snoozing just behind the rocks.
