J & J has visited no places in Palo Alto

First of all, my apologies for not having written anything for a long while. We've been putting our feet on the coffee table at Jon's dad's house in Palo Alto, which isn't really blog-worthy. We had some nice expeditions to San Francisco and the surrounding areas -- we ate Cambodian food with Deborah & Peter, saw street performers at Pier 39 with Rachel, ate South Indian food with Dev & Sam, ate burritos with Holly & Rob, ate burritos with Alison & Colin, and spent a lot of time at Noah's Bagels on University Ave. A good time was had by all.

Things I really like about California: 1) The wonderful produce. 2) The wonderful burritos. 3) The internet in Denny's. Beyond that though, I still can't seem to get past how different California is from my frenetic, densely packed east coast roots. California feels like a big parking lot and why doesn't the weather ever change? I admit I am getting used to this lovely temperature every day business, but it would take me a long, long time to feel comfortable in this state.

Things I really like about California: 1) The wonderful produce. 2) The wonderful burritos. 3) The internet in Denny's.

No matter, as we're not going to be here much longer. After visiting some more family in L.A., we're heading to Joshua Tree for a night and then on to the rest of our adventure, which, in a nutshell, will be Vegas, Zion, Bryce, the Grand Canyon, Santa Fe and then a whole lot of interstate back to Iowa City. Pictures, anecdotes about heat and camping (we bought a stove!), and long-winded narrations to come. Hope you forgive us for being lazy bloggers and that wherever you are, you are having an adventure of your own. (No, I will not say anything that cheesy for the rest of the trip. Promise.)

I'm jealous of where you're about to go (or, at this point, are probably going already)--have fun!

Oh, by the way, although I think it's not quite on your current planned route (and I haven't been to Zion or Bryce Canyon so I can't make a comparison), Arches National Park in eastern Utah still ranks as one of the best places I've seen anywhere.

That Indian-food meetup wasn't with Dev _Chandra_, was it? I don't know if he's out there in his new Bay Area home yet... Hope you guys have fun as you head back east. Rest assured I am having an adventure of my own (an innocent, blog-reading kind)...
