Nicks Story.  So, to celebrate Rebeccas graduation, 18th birthday and mums birthday, the Gates family took a cruise.  It seemed like a great idea for me to come  back to the US after 9 months in Africa and go straight on a relaxing cruise to Bermuda......and all you can eat buffets

The cruise left in the drizzle out of Boston Harbour and pretty soon there was nothing to see.  We had a lively meal in one of the many restaurants and I was safely tucked up in bed by ten.  When I woke up I was rolling around on my bed and thinking that this was a bit rougher than I had imagined it would be.  Luckily I only felt a bit sick and managed to walk up to have some breakfast.  Walking was a task to itself as the ship was jumping out of the water.  Over the course of the morning I found out that we were in 30ft swells.  People were mainly in their rooms and everything was cancelled on the boat as it was too dangerous to do anything.  The Gates family took lots of pills!!

Late in the evening the sea calmed down and the next morning we arrived in Bermuda to lovely weather.  That first afternoon we walked around St George and made plans for the next two days that included caves, dolphins and golf.

So over the next two days we went in to caves, most of the family swam with dolphins and I played golf.  I really like Bermuda and enjoyed driving from one end to the other and taking ferries around.  The main drawback to Bermuda is the price of property and the traffic.  It is such a beautiful island with far more character than Cayman but it is almost too rich.

Each night, back on the boat, we had meals together and talked about grown up stuff........particularly religion.  Rebecca enjoyed the freedom of being 18 and tried quite a few of the drinks.  Mum turned one year older and I slept alot as Africa caught up to me.  I did make it to two of the shows in the evening and enjoyed both sing alongs.

The trip back to Boston was calmer and we got back at 7am after a lovely week of beautiful island and all you can eat buffets....did I mention the white chocolate cookies?
