Mission Beach is the kind of place you arrive at and wonder why you did.  There's nothing here! Any place with the word "beach" in it's name should have an exceptional beach - this one wasn't, especially after some of the ones we've seen recently.  Anyway, we booked into a backpacker resort called Scotty's - a swimming pool, outdoor garden lounge area, surrounded by cabins - a pretty cool place.

The first night we went to the adjoining bar for a couple of drinks and some kangaroo steak for dinner - yup. you heard me right - and it was really good!

The following day we caught the bus to a nearby resort called Horizon for lunch, a five star hotel with a nice outdoor pool and views of the ocean.  It was a pretty nice spot, so nice in fact that Steph from Neighbours was there - I don't have a clue who she is, but Yaz tells me it was her.

From there we caught another bus to the "main town" (about ten shops).  As soon as we arrived, we were ready to catch the bus back but would have to wait for about 20 minutes.  We went for a swift drink in the meantime, and met up with some really nice locals.  As is so often the case, the swift drink turned into a few, and we missed our last bus back to Scotty's.  And can you believe there is only one taxi in the entire area - and so as you can imagine we paid a small fortune for our return journey.

Desperate to win back some of the mountains of gold we had paid the taxi (and a little inebriated), we signed up for the Scotty's scavenger hunt.  I couldn't tell you how many other groups there were involved, and we didn't really care, all we were concerned about was getting hold of all manner of objects.  Yaz and I, and two others that had joined us halfway through were doing pretty well, and the tasks became harder with each passing round (including swapping clothes with another member of your team - Yaz is uploading the pics so I'm sure you'll see it).  Unfortunately we fell down (not literally) at the last hurdle and didn't win, but we did have a fantastic time nonetheless!
