So we got back into Bogota, Columbia´s capital city, with some time to explore.  First stop was the famous gold museum which was pretty interesting and showed alot of the ancient civilisations - unfortunately they didn´t send you away with a free nugget of gold as I had anticipated though!

Next stop was lunch but on the way we came across a protest march by school children about education - it all seemed quite lighthearted so we stopped to watch for a while and lots of the kids were waving at us (whilst making rude gestures in the other direction to the TV crews).

The riot police were out there in force just in case and when they saw us with our cameras the next thing we knew we were all having our photos taken with them.

We got lost on the way to our hotel and later that afternoon the transport police went out of their way to show us where to go and then the tourist police took us on a free tour of the city.  Now who says that Columbia is an unfriendly scary place!

We even managed a spot of culture looking around their eviqualent of the Royal Mint and a gallery of paintings by the famous Columbian painter Botero who paints fat people - we were particularly fond of the "Fat Mona Lisa" !

In the evening we headed over to the posh part of town to the Bogota Beer Company to join the Columbians watching what appeared to be a very big football match on TV - they take their football very seriously and it was a noisy night!
