Still in Singapore at time of writing this.

Well, who would have thought that one moment we were having soup made fresh in Little India for $3 a bowl then having coffee at The Fullarton? (Think of Grand Chancellor and triple the plush).

finally - Milan

Yixin and Shane have been great hosts. We sorted the problem of failing to get IP addresses to get onto the internet with a lovely young man in a shop who was remarkably helpful. There was a clash of search protocols and we had to remove some of the interference. But all went well. All we need now is to find the spots that are supposed to be free to access. Otherwise it is a flash drive and an Internet café.

We leave Singapore at midnight 17th and fly for 13 hours to Milan in northern Italy. There we arrive at 6.30am and will drop the bags in preparation for a day out. The next writing will probably be in Venice on 19th. We are there for a few days.

12 noon - 18th August (8pm at home on Saturday)

We have had a shower and a short snooze. The road into Milan from the airport is filthy. In Singapore the locals (and visitors) know that it is a heavy fine for littering. We came here to find rubbish that really looks like people have emptied their bins from their cars.

The bus was very modern and clean but….. the bugger kept on straying onto the wrong side of the road. It will take a bit more travel to find that normal.

Geoff did a great job in finding us a hotel close to everything. We are just 300m from the railway station and access is easy. We were given access at 9.30 so we could clean up after 13 hours sitting still.

We realise that Milan has a few treasures to surprise us so it is out onto a bus and into it.  (photos coming)

So far my Italian has been good enough. I successfully ordered wine, ice creams, bus tickets, train tickets and most of it in Italian.

Hi Mum and Dad, Glad to hear you made it safely to Italy. We bought a new car this morning, another Toyota Corolla (5spd silver sedan). Will write to you on your netspace address later on when we pick it up, and I will send pictures. Love you both

Good to hear from you Uncle Don & Aunty Marg. If you go to Austria, be careful driving as I've heard they are insane. 13 hours isn't much, it's shorter than the 17 to LA. :-) I must admit that I'm looking forward to Tania taking me to Italy. Not a lot to report here, same old same old. Keep us in touch. Love David & Tania
