Having finished my volunteering stint in India it was time to explore a little further than Kalimpong and Darjeeling. Permits were got in Rangpo to allow us as foreigners into the state of Sikkim.
My time in Gangtok was spent visiting Tibetan handicraft centres, seeing Nepali and Lepcha dancing, seeing some lovely orchids at the flower show and looking around Enchay Monastery before heading on to Rumtek Monastery on day 2.
Having spent time in Darjeeling and Kalimpong there wasn't really much new about Gangtok - a town on the side of a hill! It was pleasant enough, but I'm afraid it didn't really grab me!
