Phil & Kristin's arrival in Japan

Konichiwa!  We left LAX at 1pm on Oct 28th, 2007 on Japan Airlines (excellent service by the way) and arrived the following day at 4:40pm.  We took a shuttle to the base (1.5 hours) and were met by Phil's sponsor and his wife.  They gave us a huge bag of frozen dinners, snacks, water, beer, etc to get us through the next few days.   We checked into the Navy Lodge on base...set up our internet...and went to bed.

Our first full day in Japan:  Phil checked into his new command while Kristin met with her potential new boss (hopefully) in the morning.  We went out to lunch (a Thai restaurant) with Phil's new co-workers and then walked around Yokosuka.  We also bought Japanese cell phones!!!!  They are much bigger than we imagined... We also realized that we don't even know the basics like please, thank you, you're welcome, etc...so we've just been bowing to everyone!  :)

Anyhow, that's it for now!  Hope you all are doing well!

p.s.  Japanese phrase of the day:  "Sumimasen" (soo-mee-mah-sen) which means "excuse me."
