Friday 0800: Romy drove me to the bank to exchange some $, there was a long line at the bank and things moved very slow. I guess I am on Africa time now. Romy scared me a little when she said that she would wait for me and when I was ready to leave the bank, to make sure I knew where she parked.
10:30: I walked down to the local market for breakfast items and some South Africa wine. Got some take away at a local burger chain called Steers. I wanted to hit the beach, but the weather was a bit dodgy. High winds and even higher surf. So I decided to book my flight to Cape Town on Tuesday (decided to use SAA, Mango Air left a bad taste in my mouth) and the flight was R612 ($90).

12:30: Walked down to the beach for a swim. I was the only person on the beach for as far as I could see. Headed north a couple of towards Durban and found a resort hotel on the beach where some guys were kite surfing.Colorful parachutes and a surfboard strapped to your feet. Looks like fun, but decided just to watch. The wind is fierce..great for them but bad for me walking on the beach, Much warmer than Pretoria..60s in the morning and 70s during the day. Shot some pool with two guys from the UK. They were brave enough to go surfing but they came back pretty beat up.

6:00: Met Niels from Namibia around dinner time. He is descendent from Germans who immigrated to what was German Southwest Africa arounf the turn of the 19th century. Since Romy & Barret are away for the weekend, we are on our own for dinner. Neils and I walked down to a place called the Casbah Steak and Snack, a local beach hangout, for some take away. Got a traditional boererwors dinner of of 2 feet of sausage, mashed potatoes, egg, cheese and fries all plopped on a plate. Way to much food!

8:00: Quite an international flavor..guests from Namibia Holland, Italy, Germany and UK (Tom and his friend from Wales). Played Texas Hold 'Em with the Brits . We will part ways tomorrow. They are off to Coffee Bay and then to Cape Town and I am off to Hluhluwe-Imfolozi. We plan to hook up in Cape Town. I told them I had booked a room at Long Street Backpackers. I talked awhile with the Germans (Werner and Rainer). They are both in the Germal Army. They just got back from training for the Comrades. Werner on his bike and Rainer running behind. Watched the French Open for a while.

10:30 Sat on the back porch looking at the full moon over the Indian Ocean when a wicked storm came up. A great light show with lightning bolts hitting the ocean on the horizon.
The car is supposed to be delivered at 8:30 in the morning then I am off to Hluhluwe. It doesn't look like I will be doing Lesotho or Drackensburg. I drive to Hluhluwe Saturday morning. It is a 3 hour drive up the coast towards Mozambique. Saturday and Sunday I will be at the Inswekwe Bush Camp for a safari and then back to BSM on Monday afternoon. I then leave for Cape Twon on Tuesday morning. Maybe I will call Baboo for some sushi in Durbs Monday night.
