We reached Florianopolis after another long overnight bus trip and were ready for a few days rest and relaxation. We had heard the Island, Santa Catarina, was beautiful but hadn´t expected it to be as special as we discovered. White sand, warm turquoise Atlantic waters and tropical rainforest combined with a fantastic welcome from our hosts at Pousada Sue Casa meant a 4 day stop lasted a week! During our time on the island, we did some forest walks and snorkelling but spent most of the time just sitting on the beach or lounging around in the hammocks at the Pousada, eating and drinking. We used the excuse it was just too hot to do much else, but truth is it was exactly what we needed, as 5 months on the road were starting to catch up on us! Batteries recharged we were ready to head on to our final destination in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro.
