The Quintessential Town of the Loire Valley
From Brandon & Lindsay's Europe Adventure in Blois, France on May 11 '07
Saturday May 12th, 2007
We made sure to be at the train station by 9 am to get an early train through the Loire Valley. We caught the 9 21 train and arrived in Blois two hours later.
Blois is the picturesque traditional French town we had imagined!
Blois is the picturesque traditional French town we had imagined! Everyone is so friendly as well - even after getting off the train and hopping on a bus to get to our hostel, we had everyone on the bus trying to help us find our way.
After unloading our baggage, we got some help from the front desk and caught a tour bus to Chatéau Chambord. It only took 30 minutes but the scenery kept us intrigued for the duration of the ride. We are pretty sure we even saw numerous poppies dotting the fields and roadsides!
Chambord... one of the largest castles in the Loire Valley. It is surrounded on three sides by a moat connected to a river and open fields on one side and thick trees on the other. Inside, it has the famous double-helix staircase and enormous rooms. It pretty much is the perfect castle for Lindsay. You will have to browse our pics to get the right feel for it. We even managed to rent out a little row boat and were lucky enough to have Matt row us along the moat surrounding the castle.
After spending the afternoon hanging around the castle, the five of us walked around Blois and enjoyed small town life!
