What people talk about Switzerland, the first thing that comes to mind is the image of chocolates, Swatch watches, the snow covered Alps and Nobel prizes.

Switzerland has glorious scenery, especially the Swiss Alps. This trip in this country took me to Lucerne, a small city in central Switzerland. Lucerne is a French name, but the city is very German in character. The local called it "Luzern".

Kingdom of chocolates!

I took a slow stroll across the Chapel bridge (Kapellbrucke), Lucerne. This bridge was built in 1333. It is the best known landmark with a distinctive red-tile roof and its interior was lined with gabled paintings which glorified the martyrs and heroes of this region.

Besides scenery, Switzerland has rich heritage of German and French cuisine, with cheese forming an important part of the Swiss diet. The national dish of the German-speaking portion of the country is rosti, a dish of crispy fried shredded potatoes, looking like hash brown that has been separated strand by strand.

The country is so orderly. Even the dog has it's private place to do its business!

This was the second trip to Switzerland for me. I recalled having visited Zurich in Feb 1993 on a business trip. I have added the pictures of Zurich in this journal as well. Zurich is a key financial centre in Europe.
