We have had some great experiences during a memorable stay on Easter Island. A fabulous walk to an impressive crater escorted by 2 local dogs who followed us for 5 hours. Even when Chris went for a run around the rim the dogs followed faithfully!!

We hired a  car for a day with 2 German guys-a very casual arrangement; no insurance, no paperwork just one instruction-don't hit one of the 2,500 horses which roam free on the island! We toured the island enjoying the many Moai sites particularly the quarry, Rano Raraku, where they were sculpted and many lie unfinished in the ground. Chris also went for a swim in the Pacific.

We celebrated our last evening with a fabulous meal of raw barracuda (yes it really was good!) a couple of bottles of ice cold Sauvignon Blanc, watching the sun go down over the Pacific.

And so onto Pucon!

Enjoy the photos!

Vee, You look great! However, I cannot say that I am envious, you and Chris are both brave to be in the middle of nowhere. Enjoy your travel. Take care! Nevin

The Independent gave away free CDs of birdsong this weekend. 100 birds, though one of them, like the Savi's Warbler, I'd never heard of. The weather looks good on Easter Island. I imagine it will not be so good further south. Andy Murray played very well against Nadal today. Unlucky to lose 3 sets to 2. Buon viaggio. Ab

Looks amazing from the pictures. Quite like Hawaii. Toon defended like a load of Moai on Wednesday to lose 5-1 at home to Brum City! 'Port beat Histon by the same score earlier this month! Lost to Aussies at cricket again but did beat NZ. Looking forward to reading more of your adventures. Take care. Neil
