Likes/dislikes of Thailand
From Our Adventures in Bangkok, Thailand on Jan 31 '07
Compared to other areas that we have traveled, we did not spend as much time in Thailand, but still have a pretty good feel for the country. From the moment we stepped foot into Bangkok we noticed financial relief. Food, drink, clothing, lodging, and every form of transportation are more than affordable. This was more than needed as Australia put a financial strain on the bank accounts-especially with the long distances to cover in Oz. With that said, all the different forms of transportation make the air nearly unbreathable. The amount of respiratory problems are staggering with all the locals coughing and wheezing. Definitely not a place to take in the fresh air.
The diving was some of the best, and some of the worst. We will probably head back to the Andaman Sea some day, but never back to the Gulf of Thailand. Hard to believe the vast differences in quality. The beaches on the west coast were also better. Just another reason to head back to that side.
I can't wait to get back to eat some authentic American pizza and have turkey sandwiches with Miracle Whip
We both liked the food in Thailand, but got tired of eating enough rice and noodles every day. I can't wait to get back to eat some authentic American pizza and have turkey sandwiches with Miracle Whip, My body is going through withdrawal.
Lastly, the people. We're not sure how many times we have heard how beautiful the Thai people are, but safe to assume it's enough. Granted there were some nice people that we have met along the way, but also some real a-holes. Surathani comes to mind immediately.
Well, off to Cambodia.
