Day 6_Florence

We got to spend a whole day in Florence!  It was so wonderful!  I was a little worried after Pisa about there being too many tourists, but it wasn't bad because there is so much to see!  After breakfast, we went and climbed to the top of the Florence Cathedral (all 463 steps up and down).  The view from the top was way worth it.  The city was so beautiful and the weather was nice too.  It was also really cool to be able to walk inbetween the two shells of the dome.

Afterwards, we raced around and saw a bunch of other buildings (Piazza della SS Annunziata, Medici Palace, San Lorenzo, Rucellai Palace, Palazzo Strozzi, Pitti Palace, etc) before Jacek gave us free time.  Emily, Dianna, and I went and saw Santa Croce and the Pazzi Chapel.  It was nice because we got to spend a good amount of time there.  I took a lot of pictures with my tripod (before someone told me I couldn't use it) and sketched.

After the chapel it was raining and stayed that way for pretty much the rest of the day.  We stopped at an ice cream place (which we did daily :)) and Emily got a big thing of ice cream, but it ended up costing 12 euros.  Dianna and I felt bad, but we decided to get our ice cream somewhere else.  Then, we shopped around.

For dinner, everyone ate together.  I had some very very good cheesecake.  I have a couple pictures of my dinner the first night in Florence...we found a local place that serves a three course meal for relatively cheap!  Good end to a great day in Florence!
