WE managed to make it all the way to Spain today and how beautiful. France was beautiful, but it does not compare to the hills and the crashing water on the rocks off the coast of Spain. So, after a bus ride that I could not image any Canadian bus driver to make.. we were in Bilboa. My first impression was it wasn´t as nice of a city as I the others but once you got into it it was. We got directions and a map. I had to quickly remember my spanish. We got on the bus and headed up the hill and we went to get off at one stop and this lady touched my arm and said no one more. So we waited and then when we went to get off this man signaled us that it was the right one. People here have been so helpful without even being asked. They are just looking out for us. We have been so thankful.

Our hostel is like a huge hotel. We are on the 7th floor with 2 other girls in our room. We have gotten to know Nina who is from Austria and we are going to see her back in Austria when we get there. We are enjoying the city and all of the beautiful buildings.

Some of you may be wondering what is in Bilboa?? Then you are saying what a lot of people are. IT is the Guggenheim Museum. It was built by the Canadian Frank Gehry and is one of his best pieces of work. It is stunning and took my breath away like nothing else before. It is made of Titanium plates.. very thin, marble, and special glass so that it doesn´t get too hot. The top two floors were closed so we didn´t get that far, but the first floor was filled with different types of art, sculpture, paintings, etc. Too much to account for. It was pouring rain so we decided to find shelter, but then it cleared up. We walked the streets and enjoyed the sights. It is a very easy city to walk threw. I think we did most of the important parts of the town.

Our next day was spent at the train station because this morning a huge storm came in and we didn´t really want to be walking around. When it did pass we went to this market and got some salami, cheese and a baguette. I swear I think I could live off of baguettes. We meet a lot of neat people in the train station and got to practice my spanish with this old man who was interested in our card game (crib).

On to our night train we went.
