I'm gonna miss you too Melbourne...

Well I sure picked a great weekend to visit the shopping mecca of Australia...AFL final was today so the city is abuzz with excited fans. Not so sure of the rules but quickly found myself supporting the Swans like every other Melbournian - Perth is too far away so we can't go for that. Apparently the Swans used to be based in South Melbourne (according to my very knowledgeable little brother Andrew) and the team's full of Victorians anyway. Pleased I was going for them 'cos they won. MCG was chocca, yesterday there was a huge parade I saw which was pretty cool. Have to say the AFL uniforms are H-O-T-2-GO! The Royal Melbourne Show is on this weekend too, a big event here - and race season is about to kick off - oh to be attending a la Whips and Spurs!! The Caulfield Cup is coming up soon - it's held really close to where we live in East Malvern. Then of course Melbourne Cup is first Tuesday in November. Family is all good, taking a trip to the country to see Nana and Grandad tomorrow which will be nice. Been really good to zone out and do a spot of retail therapy prior to my departure seeing as I have done no shopping for what feels like forever! Hmmmm 4 pairs of shoes in two days....tripped around all my favourite haunts here, Richmond, City - Myer was having a HUGE sale!! - South Yarra (Chapel St) etc. and picked up a few other bits and pieces to take away. So much choice and so cheap - luckily I only packed a cabin bag for this trip or things might have got a bit out of hand.
