What a shock! After stories of Santiago from othr travellers, we were a little apprehensive.  "It´s a dangerous place", "it´s just a big city" etc etc.  But I can honestly say Santiago is a beautiful city.  Glass sky scrapers aplenty, with a backdrop of massive snow-capped mountains, it truely was a site!  We arrived at the hotel in the evening and were told by reception that we weren´t to go out walking around after 7pm.  It´s apparently a very dangerous place after this time, so anywhere you want to go after this time was strictly taxi only.  Surprisingly Yaz found the address of an indian restaurant and we headed there, by taxi of course. It was the best meal we´ve had for months! Really, it was! The food was astonishing! Anyway, as you can imagine, the next few evenings were spent checking out all different restaurants, Thai, Chinese, even TGI Friday!  : )  In fact everything we´ve been craving since leaving Madrid, we found in Santiago, including Starbucks (needless to say I was buzzing after three coffee´s in a row).

Again, due to extreme paranoia, there are no pics what-so-ever of Santiago.

Anyway, we decided that enough was enough, and dragged ourselves away from the gluttenous city that was Santiago to head south, towards Patagonia. First stop, Valdivia.
