Amsterdam
From My Europe Trip in Amsterdam, Netherlands on Jun 03 '06
Hello everyone, I hope someone, probably just my mom, but anyway; Hello from Amsterdam. This place is pretty crazy. Sam and I have done our fare share of sightseeing. The first day we got here, we had to check in, meet people, eat, and just look around this city. All and all not too crazy, we both needed a serious nap, so we took 4 hrs for ourselves. We ended up making it out until like 4, which I was impressed by, since I did not get a wink in the London Airport. Of course next to me in the airport, I had a gay couple on one side, and then a bearded stinky homeless man. So I ended up spending 9 hours cuddling with my luggage.
Sam and I now decided that it was time for us to get a watch. We had just gone through a full day of not knowing what time it was. Once we accomplished the watch we did the Heineken Experience, which was really fun. The only problem was that Sam was given an extra set of coins, for drinks, but he told the guy he already had coins. So the guy took them back, that was 3 free drinks. Sammy Sammy. But then after we went on a canal tour ride. It was pretty cool. Some people here live on boats, that do not move or have motors. Kinda cool to see. Then we saw a bunch of old stuff too. Sam and I then went home for our daily nap, then went out exploring the city, we were bar hoping like crazy.
The next day we were going to meet Max, before we met max, we went to this Science Museum called Nemo. We went there on the advice of Gibs, thank you Gibs. We went in there, it was a museum for 4 to 12 yr olds. Needless to say, Sam and I tried to get our 8 Euro's worth, but just were not able to do it. Next we went to the Botanical Gardens here. That was really cool, we saw some really old plants, rare plants, and butterflies. We went into a butterfly green house, it was hot and sticky, but was also full of all types of butterflies. Really Cool. We lounged around the botanical gardens, came back napped, then went and met Max. Max took us around the the Amsterdam he knows, we ended up at an American Sports bar, watching Sox Yanks, too bad Yanks were winning. But to make up for it, I have been amazing at table soccer, foosball ? I have been dominating Sam and Max over the past 2 days.
Today Max took us to the beach, I dipped my toes into the North Sea, and just as I had expected it was freezing. We went to a local bar and hung out. Sam is now napping for our final night out here in the crazy city of Amsterdam. I will let you know what we end up doing tonight, but you will have to wait a few days. Till then you stay Sassy United States. Everything I had heard about Amsterdam still did not get me ready for this. There is nothing for me to compare this place too. The Red Light district, is not like anythin I have ever seen. It makes you feel like you are on a different planet.
