Our actual COSMOS tour ended in Rome, but I have a friend who has an apartment in Athens so we decided to extend our trip there.  I searched online and booked discounted one way tickets from Rome to Athens (COSMOS had booked my return from Athens rather than Rome so I wouldn't have to fly back to Rome).  The company I used was www.europebyair.com, tel. 888-321-4737.   $99 each plus about $10 tax which on my receipt stated that I could change my flight without penalty or get a full refund up until the time of the flight - well, that didn't happen.  I originally booked an evening flight but decided to leave on the 11:20 flight instead.  The people at the Aegean airlines looked at me like I was crazy even though THEIR receipt stated that they would do this!  So, we ended up waiting in the airport for 10 hours.  I still haven't dealt with them on that issue.

But... we arrived in Rome and met my friend Maggie.  The next day we went to the Acropolis to see the Parthenon.  It really does give you a magnificent view of the city and when you think how long ago it was built... wow.

We got a glimpse of the islands and the beautiful Mediterranean when we went on a 3 island cruise.  It was pretty touristy, but still nice.  Next trip I want to spend a couple days in Santorini.

Well this is where our trip ends.  We are tired and ready to go home with all of our wonderful memories!
