New Yoik New Yoik

So yesterday I left on my crazy, low budget, three flight, journey to Belize, my new home for a while. Bit of a depressing morning to be honest.  I was expecting to be a lot more nervous than I was, to be honest I felt a bit numb, like I wasn't really leaving. Numb and tearful. I think knowing that I'm coming home in four months helps. It doesn't make everything as final. Deep down I know this is what I want to do and Belize is where I want to be.

I got on the plane and fell asleep, even through take off!! CRIKEY!! Anyone who knows me knows how much I hate flying. I normally have a strict take off routine consisting of crying, listening to safety instructions, seat belt check, gripping  arm rests and praying hard! Sleeping is not part of that routine! Arrived in Newark NJ and just wanted to eat, I’d slept through the inflight meal and all they would give me onboard was a piddly pack of peanuts (approx content 10 peanuts). I eventually got to my hotel and dropped off my bags (with the help of the taxi driver, I can’t actually lift my suitcase) and ordered a big plate of roast chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetables. MMMM happy. Until the waitress walks over with a big plate of salad, I guess she’d got my order wrong but I was so hungry I didn’t complain, although a plate of salad does not have the same culinary appeal as a nice roast chicken! I literally wolfed the whole plateful down in one mouthful my now full stomach very grateful. Then about ten minutes later the waitress walks up to the table with the biggest chicken you have ever seen DOH I guess the salad was an accompaniment. I felt so stupid. I suppose this is the American portion difference! Anyway… I need coffee. Still don’t know how on earth I’m getting to San Ignacio yet.
