WoooHoooo
From Camino de Santiago in Roncesvalles, Spain on Mar 13 '06
We woke up and had breakfast that Jeanne made us. We got out by 8 and were walking. Started out so lovely. So pretty and wonderful. Felt great. Taking tons of photos and Cook was peeing all the time. It was flat at first and then started to be rolling hills. That was ok and the way was so beautiful. Then we hit the mountain, and I do mean mountain, the sucker was 3500 feet and at times it felt like it was straight up. We did it ok I was slower than Cook, but what else is new. It is so hard to describe it, so beyond anything we have ever done. We were so high there was snow on the ground. Rushing rivers, streams and water falls and fantastic views. We took photos and stopped a churchs and walked and walked. We finally reached the summit, there was a church but it was closed, so we enjoyed the view before walking down to Roncesvalles. The whole town is basically an old monestary and beautiful old church and a bunch of places for pilgrims to stay because the next town is 22k away. We got into town at 4 and had walked 16.5 (26k). Put down our stuff and ran around town. We checked out a little of tomorrows trail, it looked lovely and then jumped and skipped and hopped about. Booked in for dinner at 7, got veg options. Waited for our Aussie friends, heard they were about 1k out of town so we ran to the gates to meet them, arrived just as they did. I ran up and booked them at dinner then we all talked and chilled. We both feel great, Cook and I. Went to dinner and it was good, the waitress was really funny. Then went to the Pilgrims Mass, we were late, I always knew if I went to church I'd be the late one who was naughty. Beautiful and we got blessed. Then went to the room and I showered then we went to bed.
Oh, my goodness
