Wow, incredible India!  Literally every minute and every where we look, there is something unique and interesting to see.  On a street, at one time, we have seen cows, camel-drwan carts, rik shaws, tuk-tuks, bicycles, motorbikes, cars, vans, pedestrians, monkeys, elephants, horse-drawn carriages, and even bears on leashes.  Totally wild. Another crazy thing were the urinals on the boulevard.  You may have heard, that Delhi is experiencing the coldest weather in the last 20 years.  Thank goodness we Canadians can handle the cold!

The poverty and homeless people that we have seen certainly has been disturbing.

Yes, culture shock yet not so much as we have been fortunate to travel to other developing countries.  India has been the icing on the cake!

On January 2 we arrived in Delhi. The following day we toured Delhi and our driver, Shake, safely navigated us through the gong show.  The drivers here are crazy.  Driving in India is like a video game.  Printed on the back of big trucks it states: Honk Horn, Please...so the noise level is high, to say the least.

We then did the "Golden Triangle".  We drove to Jaipur (@ 5 hours from Delhi) and toured a fort, rode Bul-Bul, an elephant, checked out a really neat place where Royalty lived in the 1600's.  The cities buildings are all pink and Jaipur is referred to the Pink City. We also saw the largest sun dials in the world...really cool.

From Jaipur, Shake drove us to Agra where we experienced the Taj Mahal at sunrise. Surreal, to say the least.

The food in India has been super and we have come accustomed to the after-dinner mint of cumin and sugar.

We are seeking warmer temperatures and headed for the beaches of Goa!

Namaste,

Shelly & Michael :)
