I have arrived in Antigua, Guatemala after a good 24 hours of travelling.

I spent a whole 14 hours stop over in Miami sleeping on the floor and woke

up to ants crawling on my arms. Disgusting!

Didn't spend anytime in Guatemala City but transferred on a shuttle bus

($10)-excellent price and comfy ride to Antigua, former capital of the

United Central America. It looks a lot like Cusco in Peru. No one here

seems to speak much English. I was really lucky to meet this gal named

Judy on my shuttle bus, another girl my age from Pensylvania and we are

just poking around in this lovely city. We lined up in a few lines and

finally got our money exchanged and we went into a really nice church,

visited the Piazza and got a taco. Exhuasted and tired, hopefully I will

figure out what I will do in the coming days.

Miss you all, take care and look out for my emails!

Since arriving in Antigua, Guatemala, I have enjoyed getting to know this

small city of 40,000. I am extremely impressed with the people of

Guatemala - so hospitable, so friendly, and just so content with what they

have. Antigua is a hot spot with many tourists so I have been able to meet

heaps of people.

Friday, I climbed the Volcano Pacaya, an active volcano about 2.5 hours

out of Antigua. It was so exhilerating. Couple months ago, it did erupt,

so we are not able to climb right to the lid (I kinda wanted to but I

guess it´s better not to get killed right?) But anyways, I got close

enough like 1 meter or less to just running lava. It was remarkable ! ---

so hotttt! Roasting. I enjoyed a meal with two other people I met on my

volcano excursion and had myself a scrumptious meal at a 5 star hotel,

which is formerly a convent - had myself an amazing piece of steak for

about $13! (I can´t believe I splurged like the that considering my

accomodations and meals are like $5-10 or less each)
