Who would've thought atypical, industrialized city could be so obsessed with the fact that The Beatles once lived there?  Gee, they're not capitilizing on the prospect of tourism or anything...?

I wasn't impressed with the way Liverpool looked.  If anything, it reminded me of Newark or a relatively rundown city, just because it wasn't clean, there were cranes and other machinery everywhere, and it just wasn't nearly as appealing to the eye as London.  There were some amazing cathedrals and ports, but that was about it as far as its appearance goes.

No, we didn't take a tour of the cathedral or spend time in the art gallery. Instead, we went on the 'Magical Mystery Bus Tour' and visited all places of interest for a Beatles fan

So, what did we do today?  No, we didn't take a tour of the cathedral or spend time in the art gallery.  Instead, we went on the "Magical Mystery Bus Tour" and visited all places of interest for a Beatles fan - Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane, John Lennon's house, (etc.)  This was interesting for the same reason Shakespeare's house was, and I have to admit - the bus was pretty cool.  We got to listen to The Beatles and our tour guide - who apparently actually knows some of the band members - told plenty of stories and corny jokes.  Most of our group did that, actually.

We did a little shopping, but nothing major.  I'm not spending any money on fashion while I'm here - I can do that at home, if I cared.  But a lot of the other girls seem interested so that pretty much sucks for me.

Speaking of sucking for me, it was Jaclyn's birthday and everyone wanted to go clubbing.  Of course, I dreaded the prospect of such an excursion all day, but in the end I went anyway - just because I'm trying my best to be social and "have fun."

After forcing myself to get ready for "clubbing," we went to Confessions in Banbury.  It wasn't bad because there were places to sit and it was pretty "dead," but after an hour or so everyone wanted to leave.  It bothered me that I was about 2 seconds away from being left behind on my own, as everyone went and got their coats and were out the door when I noticed that everyone was leaving immediately.  Yet another reason I don't like going to clubs here - there's no one who cares enough to look out for me, and that definitely concerns me.  I think that it's important to look after each other, especially since we're all girls, for the most part.

So as everyone began to pay the 6 pounds for the next club, I noticed that Katrina, Julie, and Kate were hanging back.  They didn't want to go to another club, so I tagged along with them in pursuit of somewhere to eat.  No such luck at that time in the morning, so we took a cab back to the abbey, ordered pizza, and watched most of Shakespeare in Love.

Now that is my idea of a fun night.  Julie and Kate were both saying that they don't like the who bar/club scene, and that they apparently feel the same way I do about it.  And I know I'll always feel this way.

But, hey - at least I genuinely tried to fit in.
