July 4 We went to Glacier National Park. This drive through the park is called "Going to the Sun" and is spectacular. No vehicles over 21' are allowed as the switch backs are too tight. Mama bear and her cubs ran across the road in front of us. July 5 We headed for Canada. We spent 2 nights in Okotoks, Alberta and visited with David and Ivy Budd. Ivy has been a dear friend for over 30 years. We first met at SIL, then went to Jungle Camp together, then on to Colombia. She and her first husband, Norm Tattersall left Wycliffe and joined World Vision. He was killed while on a trip to Peru about 15 years ago. How neat to see her so happy with the new husband. July 7-8 Fifty years ago, my family vacationed at Banff and stayed in the Banff Springs Hotel. How neat to visit and see that it still looks just about the same. We took a gondola up Sulpur Mountain and the views of Banff Township and surrounding areas were fabulous. We saw the Big Horn Sheep at the top. Second day we hiked and traveled to see Johnson Canyon, Takakkaw Falls (one of the highest in Canada), and the Natural Brigde. We ate lunch in the Chateau Lake Louise. As you can see, our view was amazing. July 9 We drove the Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper. The glaciers are at the Columbia Icefields. Then we stopped to see Sunwapta and Athabasca Falls before ending up for the night at Valemount, BC. We will stay for a day of rest and housekeeping, washing clothes etc.
