Update #14
From My New Home in Glasgow, United Kingdom on Oct 04 '05
Well the last time we were speaking I was sitting in an Internet Café listening to the Swans play West Coast in the first round of the finals. Well we all know that they lost that came. We also now know that the mighty Swans were ultimately victorious and are now the premiers of the AFL! To anyone who ever doubted I blo0dy well told you they would win it one day! And the day I made my decision to move to the UK was the day I knew they would win it this year! Typical! Well at least I was able to watch it. It was played live on Sky Sports 3 which unfortunately we do not have at home. The next thought was to find a bar that would be playing it, but as it was on at 5.30am local time that wasn’t a goer either, not even the walkabout! So that left only two options, not watch it or find a hotel that had Sky Sports 3 in their rooms. I of course took the later option as there was no chance in hell I was missing this! The City Inn in Glasgow was where I ended up booking in to. So I got to watch my beloved Swans win their first premiership since 1933 and the first ever as Sydney. I have worn red and white all week to celebrate. I love it sic, so much so that it has even overshadowed the other major event since we last spoke, the Festival of Jason! It was a hoot. We went out for cocktails and a wee dance and then back to mine for a party! The usual Festival activities took place just on a smaller scale! I did alright in the present stakes as well. Now we all know that I don’t like to rank my presents, however this year there was a clear winner and that was the Swans beating St Kilda in the Preliminary Final. I also scored a couple of pairs of cuff links, a Little Britain DVD, some clinique Happy aftershave, a new wallet (Sorry Louise, the St Louise that we bought in Nooooosha has finally carked it!), and finally 2 tickets to go and see Duran Duran! Yeah baby! They were given to me by my gorgeous boyfriend Kevin.
The other major thing of the last few weeks was starting my new job. I have been there for three weeks now and I have suitably impressed them. I am working on a lot of merger activities. I have been mostly helping with the new structure for the college. I also have some of the usual client based issues, poor performance and the like. So even though I have to travel I am enjoying it.
So not a lot else has been happening, except that I took Kevin to see Texas last night for his birthday and I think I finally have a straight girl fantasy, Sharlene Spiteri the lead singer is amazing! Absolutely fantastic concert. Taking Kylie out of the equation, I think it could well be one of the best concerts I have ever been to! And I was surprised at how many of their songs I actually knew! All I have left to say is that I am so happy that the Swans won. There are only two other people in my world who get how I am feeling right now, and that is just because they are feeling it too! So Jax and Shell our boys actually did it! Oh Mi God! Chat to you all again real soon.
