Are my entries getting to long-winded and babbly? I notice no one is writing comments and I'm thinking maybe I'm writing too much! Well, I'll try to pare it down a bit. Sometimes when I am typing I babble.
We used Barbs remaining (1st class) rail pass to get to Hannover, one day before the pass expired! HLX, the discount airline, flies out of there to Paris and we had found a good deal. But first, a night in Hannover!
We went to a hostel and it was full, then we found out there was a fair or convention or something going on and it would be hard to find a place! Luckily the second place had room, and it turned out it was in a better place! The YHI hostel was a huge modern building, kind of YMCAish, which often means there will be lots of school group etc but there wasn't. It was also surrounded by green and was right on the bank of a canal. Beautiful surrounding! We got lost on the way there (naturally) but quickly settled in and set off. We walked to the Sprengal Museum, which had some really cool stuff. My favourite thing was this entire section of the museum dedicated to James Turrell, installation artist extraordinaire. (http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/turrell_james.html) He had this booth you go in that has kind of a bubble you put your head in and you can turn all these knobs. WHatever you do changes the colours, strobe level, sound and light/dark level. So I left the strobe off but played with colours and because your head is in this bubble, it's a complete colour experience. Pretty intense. He also had this hall you go in that is COMPLETLY black, you hold on to a hand rail and shuffle along, ending up in a COMPLETLY black room, you cannot see a hand in front of your face, so you follow the rail to some chairs and sit in the peaceful dark. it would be cool if he also made it super soundproof but he's a visual guy...

The museum also had some Gerhardt Richter, Niki De St Phalle, goodness I don't remember who else (Scott is the resident art Journaller, we have two journals, regular and art).
Next we spent about 2hours walking around looking for food and eventually we found Doner but it wasn't the best...But it was sunday so almost everything was closed.
On the way back to the hostel, we came across and giant FAIR!! like the one in Hamburg! We walked around for a while, got some candy and walked some more.
