As part of the American College of Thessaloniki's orientation there was a field trip to Vergina. This is home to some ancient greek tombs believed to belong to Philip II (father of Alexander the Great) and the son of Alexander the Great. The museum is buried under a hill as the tombs were originally to protect them and their contents. Out of the 4 major tombs found the two previously mentioned were found in quite good shape and had avoided being pilaged and robbed by ancient thieves.

The museum was very fascinating and I was very excited to be up close to my first bits of ancient Greek history!
